MAKIOS Logistics is committed to providing safe and healthy conditions for its employees and customers. This is achieved through a number of processes which cover the following topics:
Plant facilities
The plant facilities has been designed and constructed according to the highest standards of hygiene and safety and all Food Safety and GMP principles. The buildings are equipped with the best systems of fire detection and suppression. All of our pallet trucks comply with the higher European standards of safety
Maintenance program
There is a very detailed and strict maintenance program for all the buildings, the mechanical equipment and the pallet trucks which, is carried out by the company’s technical department under the supervision of a Mechanical engineer. This program, which is part of the ISO certification, ensures the excellent condition and functionality of every mechanical part of our business, a fact that leads to state of the art standards of safety.
Pest control
There is a preventive pest control program which is monitored by a licensed pest control provider with the contribution of special trained employees from the technical department. The program covers the buildings and its surroundings. It includes monthly inspection visits and reports. The entire procedure is fully documented over the last three years, and available to all our customers.
Personal Hygiene
All the employees are aware of their personal responsibilities for hygiene and safety. The company also provides them with all the necessary safety equipment such as protective clothing, helmets e.t.c.
No smoking policy
Smoking is not allowed in the warehouses and offices except in specially designated areas.
Training
There is an induction training program that every new employee has to attend, covering basic topics on health and safety and of course specific job training. The more detailed programs are taking place four times a year, for all our employees, on topics such as fire prevention and suppression, pallet trucks driving, safety in the warehouses, handling of products and HACCP.
Inspections
Regular inspections are carried out by special trained employees, who point out every possible problem or malfunction. This procedure allows us to have full knowledge of every problem in a very early stage, thus being able to maintain relatively easy our high standards of health and safety.
Environment
Our company complies with all relevant Greek and European legislation according to the protection of the environment. There is currently a program undertaken by the Technical Department aiming on the reduction of water and electricity consumption as well as reduction of solid wastes.
